I have a few blog posts coming down the pipeline this week, but I thought it was only fitting if I gave a little bit of an explanation as to where I’ve been recently. Not because I feel like I need to explain myself, but ya know. It’s like calling up an old friend and not asking what they’ve been up to.
Things have been a little weird over here. Summer’s come in full force here in Houston. Nick and I put in our 60-day notice in our apartment complex at the beginning of May and we just settled into our new rental home. It was a heck of a process, something I hope to never have to do again… at least until we buy a home, which is probably going to be a good long ways down the road. We ended up finding a place that seems pretty great so far for the four days we’ve lived here. Of course there are adjustments that have to be made, but I’m loving it so far.
May was extremely busy on the work front. We had 16 events over the course of the month, so having only five events in June and seven in July seems like I’m living on Easy Street. But come August, it’s back to busy town so I’m sure I’ll be pining for these days then!
Nick graduated with a double Masters degree back in the middle of May and my in-laws came for the weekend. It was great to have them around and to have us all so proud of Nick and his accomplishments. It’s been a tough three years, being away from the family for so long. But we’ve gotten through it together. It’s been almost 7 months since I’ve seen my parents and it’s been really hard recently.
As a graduation gift, we’re going on vacation with nick’s parents in September to Newport Beach, California. I’ve been to the west coast, but not California so I’m super excited! Nick and I have been married for almost three years and together for over six years and its so weird to me that this will be the first beach vacation that we’ve taken. Needless to say, the countdown has already begun.
When I say things have been weird, I don’t mean in a bad way. Just lots of change. It’s strange to have wanted something (a house) for so long and to finally have it… it’s nice. I’m sure you’ll be seeing tons of decorative posts coming on the blog. I’m terrible at interior design so I’m hoping to enlist the help of my extremely stylish and helpful friends to make this house a (stylish) home.
I’m also extremely behind on reading blogs as well. I have about 260 posts in my reader right now so I feel like I’m totally out of the loop! If you will, leave me a comment with what’s been going on in your life or link to your latest blog post and I’ll be sure to check it out.
