What Meg O. Taught Me (#blogeverydayinSept)

My Beauty Routine 2014
I’ve been pretty honest on this here blog that I don’t really know the first thing about makeup. Well, good thing I have a beauty guru as one of my close friends! Meg O. has been absolutely invaluable in helping me learn many of the tricks and tips that I know.
And honestly? That transition from complete idiot about anything having to do with makeup to somewhat (at least a little) competent has mostly occurred over the past two years. Don’t believe me? Here’s the proof: a post on my makeup bag two years ago. I rarely wore eyeshadow, was heavy handed on the eyeliner, and didn’t wear moisturizer…. ever.
Thanks to a little help from Betsy, I learned to love Simple products. At one point I had an entire post written up about the new Simple products I was trying, but alas, it somehow disappeared. Right now I use Simple makeup remover wipes, then Simple Replenishing Moisturizer. I’ve also tried Mario Badescu Ceramide Eye Gel but haven’t used it nearly as much as I should.
I don’t wear any kind of primer. Probably one of the cardinal sins of makeup wearing, or being an adult, I guess. I wasn’t a huge fan of the e.l.f. primer that I was using (it was gel-like and smelled weird) and haven’t tried a new one since. At any rate, my foundation says put for a good long while. It’s only $11 and I’m kind of cheap so that’s probably the highest I’d ever spend on a foundation. Good thing it’s amazing. Good thing Meg O. thinks it’s amazing. So go getchu some Revlon 24-Hour Colorstay Foundation.
Another Meg O. recommendation: Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon Blusher in Mellow Wine and Eyeshadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells, both from her drugstore picks for Beauty Awards of 2013. I’ve been using both of these since she gifted them to me back in March 2013 and I cannot speak highly enough of them. The eyeshadow trio is so flattering and the blush is perfect. I’m not a fan of shimmery blush, so this one is perfect. They’re also stupid cheap. I’m talking like less than $3 each.
Meg also introduced me to the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr. Eyeshadow. I love how pigmented the color is and how it really doesn’t fade, even in this Texas heat. I don’t often use the e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner, mostly for special occasions, but that’s another recommendation of Meg’s as well. It’s pretty amazing and stays put all the live long day.
I’ve been using this Maybelline Define-A-Line eyeliner for pretty much forever. Nothing new there. I have changed to Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara and it’s uh-may-zing. I thought that my cheap e.l.f. Mascara was good. No ma’am. This is where it’s at.
To top it all off, I’m almost always wearing plain Chapstick (or is it Cherry? Is Cherry “plain” or just “original”?) and/or Revlon Lip Butter. It gives me the perfect amount of color while moisturizing as well.
Now it’s your turn! I want to hear about your daily beauty/makeup routine. If you’re not much of a makeup person, no worries! Just link up below with whatever you blogged about today. And if you’re able, please try to visit some of the other bloggers that linked up and leave them some love! This linkup is all about spreading the love and giving support, so let’s do that!
