Weekend Update

July 29, 2012

This weekend was pretty laid back for us! I had plans to go hang out with some fellow Delta Zeta alum on Friday night, but I made a really dumb mistake, took too long to get ready, and ended up not going.

(hence my ‘all dressed up and nowhere to go’ tweet!)

It ended up working out though, since I got to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics and tweet along with everyone else! I won’t bore you will all of my tweets, but most of them included me hassling Meredith and Matt about their horrible commentary and squealing over all things British (I’m an Anglophile… #sorrynotsorry.) (I was also freaking out about the fact that I will probably have a kid by the next summer Olympics…. creepy.)

Saturday morning was a marathon of Saved by the Bell and Boy Meets World as always. Then I got dressed and decided to go on a search for interior decoration inspiration!

On my way out of the neighborhood, I checked the mail and what did I find but my first piece of my new collection! (If you missed it, I’ve decided to start collecting college t-shirts! So send me yours! =P) Danielle from Sweet Southern Girl sent me a tee from her alma mater and I have to admit, I’ve worn it all day! Thanks sweet girl!

I hit up the local Goodwill and found a pretty neat set of 3 chests of drawers for $199! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a picture since I was getting some pretty weird looks from the employees…

I also went to a store called StillGoode in Spring. It’s a furniture consignment store and they had tons of really neat pieces! They actually had our bed there! I called my hubby… this was our conversation…

Me:  “They’re selling our bed here!”
Nick: “See? And you said it wasn’t nice!”
Me: “I never said it wasn’t nice. I said it was ugly…which it is.”

My favorite was this funky chair ($250).

closer up, nice fabric!
Leaving there, I felt super inspired to keep going, so I trekked up to Home Goods in The Woodlands. They had SO much stuff! I carried a quatrefoil rug the whole time I was in the store but ended up putting it down before I could buy it.
Some of my favorite pieces:
Only $19.99!
$150… I’m very tempted to get it!
Remember how the hubs was using one of our kitchen chairs for his computer? No longer!! An awesome friend of mine (fellow DZ!) gave me her desk chair that she wasn’t using. What a great friend!
Sunday is always grocery and meal planning day! I convinced the hubs to come with me to keep me from buying things that we didn’t need. (I am a grabber when it comes to going shopping! If it looks good, I’m grabbing it.) We ended up spending only $80 and I’m SO happy with that! I was really trying to plan and keep costs down.
Saw this at the store… makes me miss home!
I haven’t done this in a while, but I want to share our meal plan for this week!
Tonight: Baja Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Slaw and Mexican Rice
Monday: Chicken and Rice Casserole (I’m substituting the green beans for asparagus)
Tuesday: Manwiches with Zesty Fries and Roasted Okra
Wednesday: Shrimp Scampi with a salad
Thursday: Teriyaki Chicken Breasts with Rice
Friday: Date Night/Leftovers
I also grabbed lots of healthy snacks this week including whole wheat crackers with tzatziki, cucumbers, grapes, and protein bars. Let’s try to stay healthy this week!
