That Time I Made Homemade Taco Seasoning

May 6, 2013

If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for a bargain.

One day, I was making a recipe that required taco seasoning and realized that I didn’t have any (something that seems to happen pretty often.) I searched for a recipe and actually found one that required ingredients that I actually had on hand. Since then, I’ve not bought taco seasoning packs at the store!

Not only are you saving money, but you know exactly what’s going into your  seasoning. It does make quite a large batch though, so you probably would only want to use 2 tbsp. in your recipes and save the rest!

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon chili powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Use two tablespoons in recipe, or to taste. Save the rest in an airtight jar. Enjoy!

Do you have any bargain tips for groceries?
How was your weekend?
