Last week (err… ten days ago) I alluded to something exciting going on in our household. I didn’t know how soon it was going to happen, but it just so happened to take place last weekend. We took a big step in our marriage….
and bought a brand new bed!
It’s king-sized, y’all. I don’t want to leave this thing in the morning. The bed we were sleeping on before was a hand-me-down queen sized bed and while it served it’s purpose for 5 years, it was definitely time to invest in our own. This thing is like sleeping on a freaking cloud.
Long story short, we went to IKEA last Saturday to check out their mattresses and beds there. That was a big “WOMP WOMP WOMP.” I left feeling defeated and feeling like it would never happen.
As we were passing by a few furniture stores, I asked hubs if we could stop in to Mattress Firm where a local blogger’s hubby works. Once he came over, he hooked us UP. I don’t know if it would have happened if it wasn’t for him so here’s a big thank you!!
By 7:00 that evening, we had a new bed.
How is it possible that we upgraded a bed size, but our bedroom seems bigger? Please tell me because I honestly have no idea how that’s possible…
Anyways, I obviously couldn’t sleep on it without any sheets, so we ran to Kohl’s (aka one of my favorite places on Earth) and bought some dark gray sheets and king sized pillows. I ran to Home Goods to try to find a quilt, but I couldn’t find one that the hubby and I both liked. That didn’t last long. The next day, I went to Target and found a quilt set for us. I haven’t made the bed so often as I have with this sucker. And I’ve only had it for 4 days. It’s that cute.
|This isn’t our bed, but it is the bed set!|
Being the perfectionist that I am, it’s driving me absolutely crazy that I have this cute new bed but no furniture to match. The thing I’m most in need (want) of are new nightstands. I’d like them to match, have little doors to store my stuff, and big enough to have a lamp, clock, and books on it.
The whole point of me telling you about this is: HELP! I’m so not an interior designer at all and I’d love some advice on what to pair with this. The hardest part for me is deciding what kind of wood to get for dressers/nightstands and our headboard. I’d even love to get maybe a chair to put in the corner.
Any suggestions on what we could do would be greatly appreciated!
