One of my earliest memories is of my great-grandmother taking me to get my ears pierced. I was probably about 4 or 5 years old. I remember walking into the mall and approaching Claire’s, just outside JC Penny. I asked if we could walk around the mall for a few minutes instead, but ended up changing my mind before I took the plunge.
Years passed and I just never got the courage to do it. You see, I’m a bit of a wimp (understatement of the year…) and was scared that it would hurt. Middle school passed… no pierced ears. Prom passed… no earrings. Graduation… nothing. Even sorority recruitment…. nope. I just couldn’t pluck up the courage to do it.
Then, a week before my 21st birthday and exactly one year before my wedding day, a friend tricked me into going to the mall for “shopping,” which actually meant we were going to Claire’s to get my ears pierced. I remember the look the workers gave me. They had to have been at least two years younger than me. All of the other brave souls waiting to get their ears pierced were easily 15 years younger than me. Nevertheless, I was a mess. But, I knew that it had to be done.
So I took a deep breath and before I knew it, my ears were pierced. Sure, there were tears (I told you I was a big wuss) but there isn’t a day that goes by that I regret my decision! While it will almost certainly be the only piercing I’ll ever get, I think it’s the best choice by far. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing, if you’re wearing earrings, your outfit is automatically cuter.

Typically I stick to basic golds and silvers, with the occasional turquoise here and there. I absolutely love these orange beauties from Lisi Lerch designs! How perfect would they be for a Clemson or UT football game? As soon as I saw the shade, I was sold.
I’m partnering with four other fabulous Houston bloggers for an awesome giveaway. One lucky winner will receive her own pair of Lisi Lerch earrings!
