My First Stitch Fix

June 2, 2014

I’m the kind of person who hates to shop online, and y’all know this. I can’t try on the clothing before buying it and I hate having to return things to the brick-and-mortar store when it doesn’t fit online. Plus, I’m just so darn impatient!

So when I heard about Stitch-Fix, this subscription service with a twist, I was definitely apprehensive. Mostly because I’m a clearance rack shopper and I had a feeling that these pieces weren’t going to be a great as the 50% final sale J. Crew sales I typically go for. But, I signed up anyway, took the style survey, and waited patiently for two months for my box to come to my doorstep.

I have to say, I was very surprised by the items I received in my box. Most of them were homeruns! Unfortunately, I think I was a little conservative when it came to sizing and most of the items were too small for me. (They may not look like it below, but that’s the point… I didn’t want you guys to see how some of these shirts made me look like I was with child…)

Let’s dive into the box, shall we?
(Nick was taking pictures for me this evening, thanks babe!)

Item #1: Pomelo Moni Stud Detailed 3/4 Sleve Blouse, $58
I wasn’t totally in love with this top…. meaning that I didn’t really like it at all. The bottom of the shirt was tighter than the middle, which gave a weird illusion of a fluffy middle. The sleeves were very odd, they were ruched in the back. I really liked the color and the studs, but overall I just wasn’t a fan.
Item #2: Papermoon Wyann Ikat Print Front Pocket Blouse, $48
As soon as I saw this shirt in the box, I knew it was definitely a contender. Unfortunately it was just the slightest bit small in the arms, so I just couldn’t justify keeping it. I absolutely love the pattern and color. I totally wouldn’t mind getting this again in my box in a bigger size!

Items 3&4: Kensie Johnny Skinny Jeans, $88
and Pomelo Adella Abstract Print Ribbon Trim Tank, $48
First of all, these jeans are probably the most comfortable pair I’ve ever put on my body. Fo’ real. Again, unfortunately they were just a tad too small in the waist and I couldn’t breathe. The tank, however, is the one piece that I did keep! I love the blue pattern and the aztec ribbon on the side is so funky. Tanks like this are perfect during these hot Texas summers.
Item 5: Gorjana Marina Hammered Metal Stud Earrings, $35
I liked these earrings, but I’m not much of a stud person. I’d much rather wear dangling earrings! I’m totally a gold girl, though.
Have you ever tried Stitch Fix? If not, I really encourage you to sign up here and try it! It’s so fun and it’s just like having a surprise boutique in your own living room.
