A little bit of vanity never hurt anyone…

April 4, 2012
I’m going to be a little vain today.
Hope that’s okay.
Recently I’ve been on quite the job hunt. I’m currently working as a PR assistant part time, but I really need something full time. I know that I have the skills to do the jobs that I’m applying for, but I know that my “lack of experience” and age may keep me from a lot of the jobs that I’m interested in.
(I don’t think that the amount of years you’ve worked is the best indicator of your skill level, but that’s a different story for a different day.)
I hope know that sometime in the next couple of months, I will have an interview. But I cannot be 100% confident with the way that I look at the moment.

First problem: I don’t know anything about makeup.

I have an amazing mother, but she never really taught me how to put on makeup beyond super dark foundation for dance recitals. Needless to say, I’ve tried to figure it out on my own. Sure, I’ve had my makeup done professionally for prom and weddings, but that’s not an everyday look that I can replicate in five minutes every morning.

I use a maximum of four products each day.

1) Covergirl Aqua Smoothers Foundation
 2) ELF Bronzer
3) Maybelline Eye Liner
4) ELF Mascara

(all of which basically fade within a couple of hours and leave me looking rough)

Now, if you can’t tell by the choice of products, I’m not exactly rolling in dough and wanting to spend upwards of $40 for a bottle of foundation. But, I need some help.

I use Target brand facial wipes.
I apply my foundation with my hands.
I feel like I have terrible under eye circles.
I know I need to start taking better care of my skin.

Second problem: I have no idea what to do with my hair.

I made a pretty significant cut a couple of months ago, but it’s already grown out.

I thought that the bob was going to be easy, but having to curl under the ends every time is super annoying and it’s still super flat even though I have layers.

I also dyed my hair red back in October. It’s still hanging around even though I’ve put brown over it.

Every time I go to get my hair cut, all of the hair dressers are like “you need layers” but I have them…. maybe I just don’t know how to style it.

I just want to get all of this taken care of so that I can be confident and look my age!

I promise my next post won’t be so whiny!

Do you have suggestions for doing makeup on a budget?
