Life Lately

February 17, 2015

Hello there! I’m alive. Things have been pretty interesting around these parts over the past month. Honestly? The only way I could organize my thoughts and remember what happened was by looking at photos on my phone. So, here’s a recap of the world of Whitney from the past month:

A view on my jog that made me feel like I was in The Shire.
I’m not sure what happened to this cat, but she’s turned into quite the snuggler recently.

I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t buy this shirt at Trina Turk.
I got a big girl promotion and celebrated at The Cheesecake Factory. Reese’s cheesecake FTW.
I’ve been recreating some old recipes from the blog and made this cajun chicken pasta. Twice in one week. It is delicious and you should make it tonight.
We had our January meetup for Houston Blogger Social Club at Drew’s Pastry Place in NW Houston. This cannoli was truly heavensent. The cheesesteak is out of this world.

There were only three of use at the meetup, but that’s okay! We had great conversation. It was so great to meet Sarah and I always love seeing Bree.

Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve actually been doing my hair and putting on makeup EVERY MORNING. I’m pretty proud of the curls I’ve been pulling off, so stop light selfies are a must.
Wednesday nights are reserved for trivia. Geeks Who Drink pub quizzes are pretty awesome and our quizmaster is the best. (Hi Jay! ‘Cause I know you read my blog!)

My boss and I had a meeting downtown so we stopped into The Grove to have lunch. Best burger I’ve ever had. Potato salad was the second best I’ve ever had. (Best was Corkscrew BBQ in Spring!)

WE FINALLY BOUGHT A BED SET. After a year of searching, we finally found the perfect set. Husband approved and everything. That’s an accomplishment.

Super Bowl Sunday we went down to Clear Lake to see my buds at a party at Meg’s house. Baby June is my fav (and her mom isn’t bad either!)
I’m so excited that Trina Turk is dressing me and Bree for Thrive! I chose one of these dresses for the Friday Night Party. Which one do you think I chose? (My Instagram followers were split!)

Even though I’m making a totally weird face in this picture, I wanted to show my attempts to wear lip color. The NYX Matte Colors are my favorite!
Alice won tickets to see Kinky Boots downtown and invited me and Nick. We loved it! It was such a great musical with a hilarious but touching story.

Valentine’s Day was pretty lowkey around these parts. We woke up early and Nick got us donuts. The morning was spent on the couch with the whole family.

We saw two movies on Valentine’s Day and two movies on Sunday as part of Oscar Week at the local Cinemark theater. We’ve seen four movies. Four more to go! (We love all of them so far.)

Thanks to the federal government and my wonderful employer, I had the day off. It was spent perusing Target (that navy rug on the right came home with me!
Only $119 for a 7′ x 10′ rug is a darn good deal.)

I was even able to meet up with Nick for lunch at Torchy’s Taco. Having lunch together is such a nice break during the work day. Even if I did flick on queso on his work pants… oops.

We ended the night finishing up the SNL 40 special and more snuggles.
What more could you ask for?
I have 165 unread blog posts in my reader. What have I missed in your life?!
