August 21, 2015

Today I’m joining in with my favorite link up. It’s easy to participate – just share five things! It could be about anything! Visit April’s blog to join.

1. I hate to be that person, but is it fall yet?? Some of you (aka not in Texas) are probably enjoying highs into the low-mid 80s right now. What’s that like? (Ok, the high temperature here yesterday was 76, so I really can’t complain, but it was such a tease!!) Long story short, I’m ready for summer in Texas to be over. It was brutal this year.

2. I haven’t blogged since my birthday! It was fantastic. My mom came to visit and we took her all over Houston! We went to two shows at The Pavilion in The Woodlands, went to a baseball game, ate our way around the city and shopped…. A LOT. I love this photo that I took from our seats!

3. Have you heard about Social Monarq? It’s a new app for women to connect and find meaningful friendships. I’ve talked on the blog before about how hard it is to find friends as an adult, and I think this is a great way to help facilitate that. If you’re interested in joining, you can do so on the Monarq website!

4. About five years ago my email address was hacked and I had to create a new one because I was not able to prove to Google that I was the owner of the email address. Fast forward to now, apparently I have been missing emails. If you need to contact me, PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL My email address is {at} gmail {dot} com. I’m attempting to gain access to this old email address once again, so please cross your fingers for me!

5. Last but not least, some of you may have seen that I wrote and published a post a few days ago about the University of Alabama sorority recruitment video controversy. Later that evening I removed the post because after some thought, I was not happy with the post and felt like it came from a place of anger and even more, I felt like I just “needed” to post something to the blog. I haven’t been posting nearly as much as I should have, but I don’t want blogging to become a chore. Even if I don’t post for a few weeks, I don’t ever want to feel like I have to throw a haphazard post up on the blog just to have something new. I’ve also seen many bloggers trying big back “authentic” blogging by encouraging bloggers to stop focusing on hashtags, followers, number of page views and other stats. Instead they want bloggers to focus on writing posts that are meaningful (or even just simple) and may not necessarily seem “sexy” or “pinnable.” What are your thoughts on this? I’d love to hear them in the comments.

What are you doing this weekend? Have a great one!
