Best Hamilton Gifts

April 13, 2016

If you haven’t heard of the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton” yet, you’re probably living under a rock. Based on Ron Chernow’s biography of the ten-dollar founding father Alexander Hamilton, the musical incorporates elements of rap and hip-hop into a musical unlike any other in existence. (And I’m not just saying that. Hamilton is one of the most fast-paced musicals out there, thanks to its quick verses and musical style.)

Most people I know either haven’t heard the music yet, or absolutely love it. There seems to be no in-between. I, quite obviously, fall into the second camp. Nick had me listen to the entire soundtrack on our way back to Texas from visiting our families in South Carolina over Thanksgiving break, and since then I have listened to the music non-stop (pardon the pun, for those who are familiar with the soundtrack.)

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I obsess over something, I’m talking 100% fan-girl crazy. I want to know all about the characters, the actors, the behind-the-scenes stuff, and I want ALL the merch, including fan created stuff. If you’re like me, you want to show off your Hamilton love. So, I scoured the internet to find my favorite Hamilton-inspired items. You’re welcome.

So whether you are looking for something to help proclaim your love to the public, or have a friend who is obsessed with the musical, you’ve come to the right place. And let’s be honest, while we would love to get ourselves or our loved ones tickets to see the show, it just isn’t an option right now with tickets for the sold-out show reselling for upwards of $1500 each (yeah, it’s THAT popular.)

* Edited to add: please note that at the time this post was published in April 2016, all of the products in the graphic below were available. However, some items have been removed from their respective Etsy stores so the list has been updated to reflect this. Apologies for any item listed here that you are unable to find.*

This shirt inspired by the Schuyler sisters (“Looking for a Mind at Work” tee, $25) is perfect for any Hamilton lover. (This shop has unisex sizes and the t-shirt material is SO SOFT.) This “Rise Up!” keychain and “Young, Scrappy and Hungry” bracelet ($12.95 and $17.95, respectively) are just two Hamilton options of many in this Etsy shop. I love the little gun and quill!

I think probably one of my favorite items that I found was the pin that says “Burr Shot First.” Combining Hamilton and Star Wars, two of my favorite things? Yes please! In addition to these adorable pins, there are also magnets in this shop with illustrated cartoons of characters from the musical. (Hamilton 1.25″ pinback buttons, set of 8 – $7.50)

These notebooks feature some of my favorite lyrics in the musical (“Write Like You Need it to Survive” and “Write Like You’re Running Out of Time” notebooks, $25 each.) Who am I kidding, I love the entire thing. Anyway, if you find yourself constantly writing like Hamilton, these notebooks are for you.

Even though I don’t necessarily “need” a pencil bag, I could totally get this bag and use it for other things, right? This lyric is another one of my favorite from the show. Oh, and did I mention they come with pencils?  Labeled “un,” “deux,” and “trois.”(Hamilton Pencil Case and Pencils, $19)

Busy reading Hamilton’s biography or another historical tale? Use this adorable silhouette bookmark inspired by Eliza Hamilton’s wise words (“You Built Me Palaces Out of Paragraphs” bookmark, $5)

The best part? All of these items are under $25! What are your favorites?
