Are You Ready for Football Weather? {Guest Post}

July 20, 2012

I’m so excited to have Kimberly posting today! I’m thankful that she is one of my sponsors this month and I can’t wait for you all to get to know her more!

Hey Ya’ll! I’m Kimberly and I blog over at “Here’s What I Think About That“.  I’m so excited that Whitney is sharing her blog with me today.  I have really enjoyed reading Whitney’s blog. She has inspired me and comforted me just by what she has written. So I’m super duper excited to be guest posting. {I know…I’m a little redundant with the word “excited”…but you get what I’m saying.}

If you have read my blog in the past, you may remember that I recently moved for Seattle, WA to NC. –Actually, (funny story), I grew up in the town I now live in…it just took me several relocations and many years to get back to where I came from.

I don’t know why every summer I’m always surprised by how hot it is. These temps are based on 12:00 A.M. (EST). Are you kidding me? There are temps in the 80s and 90s.

It’s around this time of year when I miss Seattle most. Let’s just take a look at the difference in this week’s weather:

Weather for Durham, NC

                                 83°F | °C Tue Wed Thu Fri
Mostly Sunny Mostly Sunny Thunderstorms Chance of Storms
Scattered Clouds .
Wind: SW at 8 mph
Humidity: 67% 98° 75° 93° 73° 93° 75° 86° 72°

Weather for Seattle, WA
                         68°F | °C Tue Wed Thu Fri
Chance of Showers Mostly Sunny Mostly Sunny Partly Sunny
Mostly Cloudy
Wind: SE at 4 mph
Humidity: 73% 82° 57° 75° 55° 75° 57° 70° 55°

Notice how angry the NC rain clouds look compared to the sweet rain drops in the Seattle cloud. It’s days like this that make me long for Football Weather!
I love football. I mean it…just adore it. And I have this idea that when football season begins it is synonymous with the crisp air of autumn. I’m also always surprised that the weather hasn’t changed over with the first kickoff.  Last year, for instance, we went to a local college football game in September. We sat on the visitor side for this game (easier to get tickets).

My post about that day include such snippets as:

The sun was brutal. The visitor section is on east side of the field and the sun bearing down from the west was intense. The Home Team Fans = shade and sun to their back. Visitor Team Fans=sun in their eyes with no relief from the sun’s heat.  Coincidence? I think not. Sadly, we saw two Visitor Team patrons carried out on stretchers.  They were taken to ambulances, presumably for heat exhaustion.

I did go to another game in October. This time I paid the extra money to sit on the Home Team side. It was October…the weather was legitimately crisp. I was close to the field. I was in heaven!

I, for one, am looking forward to both football and football weather. I hope you stop by my place in the blogosphere sometime. I’d love you to say “Hi”. I’d also love to see you on Facebook or Twitter.
Thank you so much to Whitney for having me as a guest. You have made my day!
