What My Sorority Taught Me

This past May marks three years since I became an alumna of my sorority, meaning that I've been an alumna for almost as long as I was an active member. While it's been hard to leave the thought of being in college behind, it's given me a chance to think about what exactly the experience meant to me.

I've told you before that I consider myself lucky. My chapter was different than the stereotypical sorority that you see on TV and in the movies. Out of the 70 women in our chapter, no two women looked the same (except for some reason we had quite a few petite brunettes in my pledge class that confused the chapter... but that's another story for another day.)

It's also no secret that I've gained a few pounds since graduating college. It's difficult to accept, and some days are harder than others (yesterday was one of those extremely hard days.) But I find comfort in knowing that no matter how I look on the outside, my sisters would have accepted me no matter what, and still do to this day. I'm proud to be a part of an organization, for going on seven years that is, that values what matters.

So, to celebrate Delta Zeta's National Convention going on this week, I just want to say thank you to the organization that encouraged me to give greatly of what is mine, and to love steadfastly. No matter what.

I thought this song was appropriate for this post... and also 'cause it's awesome.

How do you deal with body image issues? Any tips on healthy eating? 'Cause I'm struggling!
Thanks again to Meg for the amazing photography skills!
