Here are the songs that have been stuck in my head all week:
I told Meg last night as we drove to the Cheeky Vintage blogger party that I've gotten much more into country lately, which is very much influenced by my job. I saw Little Big Town last week and they were absolutely phenomenal. This song, "Your Side of the Bed," brought tears to my eyes! Not to mention they are four talented and pretty gorgeous people.
I also saw Danielle Bradbury there about a month ago, but she wasn't performing. She came for the Brad Paisley concert because her family lives nearby. (In case you didn't know, Danielle won The Voice this year.) In fact, I fell in love with "I Want Crazy" because Danielle sang it with Hunter Hayes on the finale of the show!
There's been this whole big controversy over "Roar" by Katy Perry vs. "Brave" by Sara Bareilles and I have to say I'm on team SB for this one. (If you haven't heard about it, listen to the two songs here.) The first time I heard the KP song, I couldn't think of anything else but how similar it sounded to something else... then it dawned on me when I saw this link. Either way, I loved "Brave" even before the release of the KP song, so it made the list.
Another artist I've seen at work this year is Gavin Degraw and let me tell y'all: as a fan of his for TEN years, I was so in love with his performance and so let down at the same time. He went before The Script when they were opening for Train and I just don't get it. I guess it's because I'm a bigger fan of GD but I didn't like The Script at all. Gavin did an amazing cover of JT's "Mirrors" and I swear he needs to record that ish right now. Almost sounded better than the original...
And then just to throw in a #6 because I'm a cheater like that, OneRepublic is another band that I've loved for quite sometime (since 2007? I think that's when "Apologize" came out). The song "Counting Stars" is very different than any other song they've made before, but I love it. The sound is very current, almost reminiscent of like Train or Imagine Dragons.
