I want to show you what my house really looks like on a daily basis. Totally untouched or cleaned for photos. Mommy, if you're reading this... I'm sorry. I try.
Our bathroom counter. I realize that most of this is my stuff. Also, my dog likes to pee everywhere, hence the Resolve. Winter Candy Apple is the best Bath & Body Works scent ever and if you disagree, you are just plain wrong.
Our bed. Hardly ever made. We don't use a comforter. Just a sheet and quilt. The garnet and gold (aka Gryffindor or Winthrop University colors) blanket was a wedding gift from a friend. It's one of my favorites. Anabelle refused to move.
My nightstand. First of all, I keep the time five minutes fast so I'll actually get up and get to work on time. I'm 3 for 4 this week. Woot! The one sock and one glove are there because my dog likes to find things and chew on them. No idea why the tissues on turned on the side or why my sorority organizer is there.
Our closet. Piles upon piles of clothing. Enough said.
Our living room. We took the slipcover off last week when the inlaws were in town so that the could pull the couch out into a bed. It has yet to go back on. We keep a card table in front of the couch as a coffee table. Right now, there's an empty Guiness glass, two remotes, an Xbox controller and wireless mouse. I'm not sure why our lamp makes it look like we have a portal to another dimension...

Haha this is awesome! Goo for you for keepin it real! I live alone so it's really easy to keep things clean and organized...my friends and family always say my house is always too perfect to sit down in...they're crazy!

OH the honesty. Love it! Sometimes seeing peoples beautiful yet perfectly styled houses makes me feel REALLLLLY bad about myself. And also a little stabby. :) Much respect to the card table and empty guiness glass.
Hahaha! I'm laughing, because other than our dining room table, people always tell us that our house is "showroom ready." When we were selling our condo in San Diego, people didn't realize that we were actually LIVING in the condo until we told them or they saw cat toys. Also, I'm one of those lucky women who is married to someone who is incredibly clean and mostly neat. (It also doesn't hurt that he's a total minimalist!) Girl, let me come over, so I can clean your place!

Haha this is what my house looks like Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday I'm neurotic about picking things up to start Monday right, but then it's all downhill from there. I love that you're keeping it real.
Also empty glasses all over the house! It's my WORST habit by far.

Do I have a hard time keeping things de-cluttered? Oh god yes. Clutter accumulates like whoa in our house. My desk is a disaster area. So are the kitchen table and coffee table. And don't get me started on the closets. We keep floors and bathrooms pretty clean, though.
Also, the sock on the nightstand made me laugh, because I've been having to do the same thing since we let Sienna sleep free from her kennel now.
I absolutely love this post (and need to do this... but would be wayy too scared because I am the most cluttered person in the universe!)
And imagine that, I have the same straightner in my bathroom right now ;) Wonder where I got it! Haha! I also have that ELF powder and Herbal Essence foam stuff, haha! Great minds do certainly think alike!!!
(It's crazy that my apt looks soo similar to yours... right on down to the piles of clothes in the closet!)
No one is realistic if they keep things put away and clean ALL of the time. Love this post. Shows that everyone is human and is realistic. Thanks for sharing! Love learning how others live.

This is so much like our house. In fact, as I type this, there is a leaning tower of papers to the right of me on the desk...
But we always have 2-3 blankets strewn about in the living room, Sloan's toys are always everywhere (she sees my picking them up as her challenge to get them out faster) and Mia (the cat) loves nothing better than hanging out with you while you shower or brush teeth, so now that we've had some warm days there are little dirty paw prints on my bathroom counter. Yes, I do clean it. Yes, they return in less than 12 hours.
I just blame it all on the pets :)
This is great Whitney (and thanks for the shout out!). I think it's so important to remember that we are all REAL people with REAL issues and messes! Your home looks so much more...normal....to me than most bloggers' homes! Thanks for sharing this little piece of your life with us ;) xoxo
